SCHT CHRISTMAS CARDS 2016

This year, to raise funds for our Stonyhurst Children’s Holiday Week, our Social Enterprises team (pictured above) have produced packs of ten cards, with a choice of two designs, five of each in a pack.  You have the choice of two themes, one of the themes proved to be very successful last year which were the prints of two paintings, ‘Nativity’ and ‘Adoration of the Shepherds’, which are part of a set of 21 paintings on copper in the Stonyhurst Collection. They were first recorded in My Lady Shireburn’s Inventory Book of Household goods at Stonyhurst Anno Domini 1713, Taken by, Thomas Walmesley, 4th April 1713. They are listed as being in the Shireburn Chapel, and this may explain their being left in the house when the family departed in 1754, as the chapel also served the parish.

The second theme of our Christmas cards are actual photographs taken by one of our current Syntax Students – Ching Hao (Jason) Leung.  These are photographs taken last winter of the stunning Stonyhurst campus.  The photographs are of ‘Brothers’ Walk’ which separates St Mary’s Hall from the College and ‘The Tree’ from a field adjacent to The Avenue, which can be seen from the dorms.
