We aim to identify pupils who would benefit from Learning Support as early as possible, building on close contact with our parents, feeder schools or with teachers who may have concerns in the classroom. We organise and administer a programme of work to meet the needs of each individual after due consultation with parents.
Our experienced Learning Support teacher uses the results of classroom feedback, tests and educational psychologist’s reports where appropriate, to devise an individual education plan for each pupil. All subject teachers are informed of pupils receiving extra help, and are sensitive to their needs, adapting specific work appropriately. Pupils are encouraged to use alternative strategies in order to find ways of dealing with the challenges they face. Where appropriate, time concessions may be granted in examinations.
