The specification followed at A-Level is AQA Spanish. Link to AQA website.

Studying any language at a higher level is not only enjoyable for our students but gives access to a wide range of university courses at top universities. Spanish is offered at various levels in Higher Line:

Paper 1: Listening, Reading and Writing. 2 hour and 30 minute examination which is worth 50% of the total A-Level. This includes Aspects of Hispanic society, Artistic culture in the Hispanic world, Multiculturalism in Hispanic society, Aspects of political life in Hispanic society and Grammar.

Paper 2: Writing. 2 hour examination which is worth 20% of the total A-Level. This includes either one text and one film or two texts from the lists set in the specification.

Paper 3: Speaking. Oral examination lasting 21-23 minutes (including 5 minutes preparation time) which is worth 30% of the total A-Level.

The A2 syllabus broadens its scope to include many other different topics which feature in the news such as Immigration, Racism and Politics. Students are tested on their active skills in Speaking and Writing. They must prepare a debate, talk about wider issues, write language essays, do translations into Spanish and also study a research-based topic such as a work of literature.
