Our pupils celebrate strong GCSE results
PUPILS at Stonyhurst are celebrating another successful year of GCSE exam results with 90% achieving between A* to C grades – well above the national average of just over 67% and up on last years results.
The number of pupils who gained grades at A* or A is 42% this is double the national average of 21%.
93% of pupils got 5 A*-C grades or better, this is an increase on last year’s 90% figure.
Results in science subjects which are considered more difficult were also very good with more than half of all the Stonyhurst candidates getting A* or A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Other high spots include 60% of candidates who took Religious Studies gained A* or A. Headmaster Andrew Johnson commented: “I am very pleased with these results. It is very encouraging that our results are once again very strong. Congratulations to our pupils and teachers on all their hard work!”
