The Stonyhurst Pilgrimage to Lourdes

A total of eighty-six pilgrims ranging in age from 9 months to 91 years, and including fourteen pupils from the College and ten OS University students, made this one of the most successful and enjoyable of the past forty-six Stonyhurst Pilgrimages to Lourdes. The pilgrimage was lead by Father John Twist SJ, the College Chaplain, assisted by Father Hilary Thomas SJ, Father Nick King SJ (OS 1966) and Brother Ted Coyle SJ.

The Stonyhurst Pilgrimage formed part of the Catholic Association (CA) Pilgrimage which includes the Dioceses of Clifton, East Anglia, Northampton, Portsmouth and Southwark. Stonyhurst provided the CA Pilgrimage Doctor, Adam Farmer (OS 1995) and Chief Brancardier, Rupert Bell (OS 1986) as well as five other Doctors and numerous Brancardiers and Handmaids, who all spent an enjoyable week caring for the Assisted Pilgrims at the Accueil St. Frai.

Next year’s Stonyhurst Pilgrimage to Lourdes will leave on the 20th of August and return on the 27th of August 2010.
