Small business masterclass

Our AS and A2 Business students were treated to a full day workshop which allowed them to practise the business skills they had been learning for real.  The Small Business Masterclass, run by Young Enterprise North West, set the pupils the challenge of choosing and purchasing a fictitious business opportunity together with suitable premises. Local business leaders worked with the pupils to give support in producing business plans and advertising strategies.  The pupils then had to perform a 30 second TV advertisement and 2 minute presentation to 'sell' their business idea.  Throughout the day the pupils had to react to further information, which could have possibly changed the dynamics of their decisions. Prizes were awarded for best business plan, best presentation and overall best company.  Charlie McDermott's team, with their business 'Road Runners' scooped the best company award, helped by Lei Pan with his memorable acting contribution to the advertisement!  The feedback from the pupils themselves was enormously positive; they felt it was a well informed interesting day and of huge value to their future studies.
