On Sunday 31^st January Stonyhurst College hosted the British Fencing North West Region Lancashire Schools Fencing Competition & the Stonyhurst Challenge. There were 80 competitors fencing in 21 events with categories for U11, U14, U17, & U20 in Foil, Epee & Sabre.

Stonyhurst fencers won a number of medals and despite strong opposition from Mount St. Mary’s (another Jesuit school) and a number of capable competitors from other fencing clubs, Stonyhurst College Fencing Club won the Stonyhurst Challenge Trophy (a new trophy for schools fencing in the Lancashire Schools competition, awarded to the school accumulating the most points).

The Stonyhurst team consisted of Michelle d’Souza, Chloe Wellington, Mary-Anne Wotton, Joann Belon, Connor Nealon, Fabian Twist, Simon Whittle (captain).
