Poetry Parents' Weekend

 

The principal purpose of this weekend is to discuss your son’s or daughter’s academic progress and prospects with his or her teachers and tutor.  On Sunday morning after mass, there will be an important talk for both pupils and parents about making the right university choice. I do hope you can attend but, if you cannot, please feel free to make contact at any time with the teachers.  Should you wish to see myself, Mr Gordon-Brown, Mr Callinicos, Mrs Wainwright, Mr Andrews or your son’s or daughter’s tutor for a lengthier time, please book a separate appointment.

 

SATURDAY PROGRAMME

 

12.00noon                       Brief talks from the Headmaster, Playroom Master and Girls’ Housemistress in the Top Refectory 

 

12.30pm                         Guided prayers for parents in the College Chapel

 

12.45pm                         Lunch in the Top Refectory

 

  2.15pm                         Games Fixtures/ Practices       

 

  4.00pm                         Tea in the Top Refectory

 

  4.00 – 6.00pm               Meetings with teachers.

                                      (More Library and Upper Gallery Classrooms)

 

  6.00pm                         Benediction in the College Chapel.

 

  6.30pm                         Drinks Party in the Long Room with music from the Big Band

 

  7.00pm                         Unveiling of new portrait of Charles Waterton: Readings from Waterton’s diaries and letters.  Artist Helen Callinicos OS (Long Room)

 

  7.30 – 10.30pm             Exeats

 

 


 

SUNDAY PROGRAMME

 

10.00am                         Mass in St Peter’s Church

 

11.00am                         Tea and coffee in the Pieta Gallery and Do Room

 

11.30am                         A talk in the Top Ref by Mrs Stella Barnes, Careers Advisor, “Higher Education – Making the Right Choice”.

 

12.30pm                          Exeat for lunch with parents and family

 

  5.00pm                         Return for evening studies

 

EXEAT TIMES

 

Exeats are available until 10.30pm on Saturday and after the talks on Sunday.  Your son or daughter should be back on Sunday for evening studies starting at 5.00pm.  Mr Callinicos / Mrs Wainwright will be happy to give parents permission to take out those boys and girls whose parents cannot attend, but please ensure that the Exeat procedures are adhered to.  No overnight exeats will be permitted unless a pupil is with his or her own parents.
