Our sporting philosophy might best be summed up as 'sports for all' irrespective of ability, so that we can ensure that there is the necessary mix of work and play for all our pupils; recreation is an important part of the working day at Stonyhurst.
Our reputation for sport is nationally acknowledged and we have two recent Stonyhurst pupils who are members of the current England rugby squad; recently one of our girls was in the England U18 netball squad.
Each year our pupils gain recognition at regional and national level.
At the moment the following sports and recreations are available to pupils:
-
Rugby

For the last couple of years we have also participated in the World Challenge scheme under which a group of pupils tackles a demanding and challenging trip to a foreign country both to take part in a series of physical endurance tests and to do work helping the local community on a chosen educational or social project.
