Eclipse viewing at Stonyhurst

Pupils from Hodder House to Rhetoric enjoyed viewing the 88% partial eclipse of the sun at the historic observatory at Stonyhurst College.  They viewed the rare phenomenon, whereby a full moon at the correct distance from earth obscures the sun, using eclipse glasses.  A telescope was used to project the image of the eclipse onto a white board to clearly show the crescent of an obscured sun, which reached its maximum at 9:38.
