Mr Edward Allanson

Edward Allanson (Head of Department) arrived at Stonyhurst in 2008, after having completed teaching training. Prior to this, he graduated from Birmingham University. He obtained a Masters degree in Divinity in 2011 from St Andrews University, focusing on the effect of the thinking of Blessed John Henry Card. Newman’s idea of the development of Christian doctrine upon the thought of Pope Benedict XVI. As well as teaching Religious Studies and Philosophy. Edward is also the coordinator of the Theory of Knowledge course which forms part of the IB Diploma Programme. He has responsibility for the extension and development of those students identified as Academically Gifted, coaches swimming, and Clay Pigeon Shooting.
