History Detectives

At Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall, PP1 and PP2 have been looking at events through time…events in our own lives alongside international celebrations (Carnival, Brazil).  We have looked at a timeline for aviation from Montgolfier brothers and development of the first hot air balloon to the Solar Impulse.  Another event we looked at was the first moon landing.  But the highlight was when we visited the observatory with Mrs Strain.

We started with a fascinating look at black spots on the sun through a telescope set up outside the observatory.  Whilst inside, Mrs Strain took us on a journey through solar systems and into black holes. We were amazed to see the huge telescope and even open the roof! Next week, we hope to travel to space ourselves!
