The Literature v Language cricket match

The Literature and Language students of Rhetoric refused to be bowed by the weather on Friday at Great Academies; the traditional Literature versus Language cricket match took place as usual, in the elegant setting of the Jesuit Gardens. Their grit was rewarded; the clouds broke and the game was played in a mixture of sunshine and rain, with Pimms and strawberries easing any potential discomfort. The game, the most thrilling of recent years, was won by the Language students who, needing two from the final ball, hit a perfect straight drive for four. The afternoon ended, as is traditional, with some parting words of encouragement and advice from the Head of Department, Mr Smith.
