SMH Music Scholars shine

Hope (at the piano), Danny (cello), Joseph (euphonium) and Alethea (trumpet)
Music Scholars from Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall made their debut at the College on Friday May 4th, with a special performance at the Headmaster’s Concert in the Top Refectory.
The concert opened with chamber music by Schubert and piano music by Mozart, Liszt, Debussy and Dohnanyi, played by College music scholars. Alethea then played the 3rd movement of Otto’s Trumpet Concert, which was followed by Londonderry Air, played by Joseph on the euphonium. Next came Largo and Allegro from a Vivaldi Cello Sonata, played by Danny, followed by Hope's performance of the 3rd movement of Kabalevsky’s 1st Piano Sonatina. Everyone played with impressive assurance, musicality and skill and gave the audience an insight into the talent emerging from the music department at St Mary’s Hall!
With thanks to Miss Allen, Director of Music at St Mary's Hall, for accompanying the soloists.
