A Visitor from Nigeria

 Nigerian visitor

Mrs Chinwe Ibekwe from St Saviour’s School in Ikoyi, Lagos (Nigeria) has been staying at St Mary’s Hall during May; several Stonyhurst pupils attended  St Saviour’s, where she is a Year 3 teacher.

Mrs Ibekwe has spent most of her time with Lower Prep to observe their lessons and activities, but she has also visited other KS2 classes, Hodder House and KS3.  She has been a ‘boarder’ in school and has involved herself in many of the boarding activities too.

The children in Lower Elements (Year 5) have been studying stories from other cultures and very much enjoyed Mrs Ibekwe’s visit, during which she told them a Nigerian folk story about the cunning black spider, Anansi.  Whilst she has been here, Mrs Ibekwe has kept her school’s tradition of wearing traditional Nigerian dress on Fridays.

Everybody has enjoyed Mrs Ibekwe’s visit and we hope that she has too.
