Stonyhurst is Lancashire's Rugby School of the Year!

Stonyhurst has been awarded the prestigious Lancashire Schools Rugby School of the Year Award. This year, four Stonyhurst teams played in the County Finals, two of them winning the trophy. Stonyhurst was also chosen for its contribution and commitment to schools’ rugby in general: it fields a wide range of teams every week and 48 teams from 3 age categories compete in its annual 7s tournament.
The Lancashire County President presented the trophy to Stonyhurst’s Director of Sport, Mr Simon Charles and Headmaster Mr Andrew Johnson at the Annual Lancashire County Rugby Awards at Preston Grasshoppers RFC. Andrew Johnson said: “The great tradition of rugby at the school has certainly been reflected by the performances of our teams throughout this season and I congratulate all the pupils and staff who contributed to this tremendous achievement.” Simon Charles said: "This award is clear indication of the excellent standard and determination demonstrated by our pupils as well as the dedication and commitment of our coaching staff. For any school to get four teams to the County Finals is a quite remarkable achievement and is something we are therefore all immensely proud of".
