Stonyhurst students direct Dahl's 'Revolting Rhymes'

Roald Dahl’s ‘Revolting Rhymes’ provided plenty of horrid material for a drama workshop led by Stonyhurst students on 15th September at Terrington Hall Preparatory School near York. Children from years 7 and 8 performed Dahl’s colourful variations on ‘Cinderella’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Goldilocks’ with impish humour and energy, reciting verse, miming and exploring physical theatre. The day finished with performances for an audience of parents and staff attended by the Headmasters of Stonyhurst and Terrington Hall – Mr Johnson and Mr Glenn.

As well as an excellent day’s drama for Terrington Hall’s pupils, the workshop was also a valuable experience for Stonyhurst’s drama students, who greatly enjoyed leading the activity. Grateful thanks go to Miss Egar, Head of Drama and Theatre Studies at Stonyhurst for making the workshop possible.
