An Oxbridge Organ Scholarship for Mary Ann

Mary Ann Wootton has been awarded an organ scholarship at St Peter’s College, Oxford, so becoming their first ever female organ scholar elect!

“I had 3 auditions at Oxford”, said Mary Ann “and was asked to conduct 2 choirs – one mixed voice, and the other boys’ voices. The boys sang their piece apparently perfectly and it was a challenge to direct them to improve anything!”

Mary Ann is currently the Junior Organ Scholar at Blackburn Cathedral. She is also an accomplished pianist, having gained the Associated Board's Diploma, and enjoys playing theatre organs  as well as church organs. She will read Music at Oxford.
