A wonderful fashion show was held at Stonyhurst on Saturday 25th February in aid of ‘Smile Ghana’, a charity which supports the education of children in Ghana. Over 300 guests enjoyed a glass of bucks fizz in the Top Ref whilst browsing around a colourful array of stalls,  before viewing local retailers’  spring and summer collections, expertly modelled by almost 50 Stonyhurst pupils.

A range of beautiful clothes was supplied by ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘Seasons’, ‘Orchid Designs’, ‘Precious’, ‘Discover Golf’, Cosgroves, ‘Sunday Best’ and Manchester’s ‘Renegade Marmalade’. ‘Fusspots and Flowers’ in Whalley provided bouquets and Clitheroe’s ‘Cupcake Boutique’ supplied delicious cakes.

The show was the inspiration of Kate Erskine  and Anastasia Andrew, who wanted to support ‘Smile Ghana’, a charity established by their Theology teacher, Miss Greenwood. Currently, 48 children benefit from the charity’s programme, which pays £150 a year to provide each child with a basic education, as well as practical skills connected with cooking, textiles and agriculture. Miss Greenwood said: “I named the charity ‘Smile Ghana’ because a smile is the same in every language and breaks all barriers. Also, a smile is so widely used in third world countries, where they have nothing and yet somehow seem to have everything. I am grateful to Kate and Anastasia for their hard work and support. The money they have raised (over £2,000) will benefit whole communities in Ghana as well as the lives of individuals and really make a difference.”

Thank you Kate and Anastasia, and everyone involved,  for a fabulous evening!
