Rydal Tournament

The U14 hockey team travelled to Colwyn Bay on Saturday 4th March to take part in the Rydal Penrhos 7 - a - side tournament. Their first match was against St Bedes, Manchester and although the girls started slowly they were never in danger of losing the match; with Georgia Raines netting twice and Harriet Lloyd one the team started the day with a 3 - 1 victory.
We played Moreton Hall in our second match and having warmed up during the first game Stonyhurst played some beautiful hockey. Harriet Lloyd scored a hat trick and Mackenzie Walker and Leah Bailey scored one each to win the game 5 - 0.
The last match was always going to be tough - Rydal had won both of their games and so had Stonyhurst. The girls really rose to the occasion and played their best hockey of the day with Georgia Raines scoring three and Leah Bailey, Harriet Lloyd and Mackenzie Walker all scoring one each. Stonyhurst won 6 - 2, winning the tournament. Well done to all the girls, who were a credit to themselves and to Stonyhurst.
The Lancashire U14 Squad

Mackenzie Walker, Georgia Baines and Harriet Lloyd (all in Lower Grammar) have recently gained a place in the Lancashire U14 Squad, following their hard work in training sessions this term.
Later on this month the girls will represent Lancashire in a tournament held over two days at Altrincham Grammar School where they will play teams from other counties in the North West including Merseyside, Greater Manchester, East and West Cheshire and Cumbria. If they win this tournament they will then go on to the North of England Finals to be held in Durham on the 22nd April.
