The Stonyhurst Rugby 7s Tournament
The 22nd Stonyhurst Rugby 7s Tournament took place at the College on 21st March. The weather and playing conditions were perfect and the 44 competing teams enthusiastically threw themselves into the spirit of the occasion. This spirit was equally matched by the extremely high standard of play and skill demonstrated by all teams in the three age group competitions.
The three Stonyhurst teams all competed with great tenacity and commitment and were a true credit to the College progressing to two finals and a semi final. The seniors courageously battled through to the semi-finals of their tournament, the U16s to their final, and the U11s St Mary’s Hall team to the final of theirs. The overall competitions were won by Lancaster RGS, Oratory and Donhead Prep School respectively.
In this Olympic year, when sport is very much on the nation's agenda, it is essential that young people are provided with the opportunities to compete in sport and the benefits of involvement in all activities promoted. Through the tournament at Stonyhurst we hope all the 528 players fully enjoyed and benefitted from this fantastic event.
