Fencing at Stonyhurst has gone from strength to strength this year, with encouraging developments and successes in the Fencing Club.
Lancashire Schools Fencing Competition
Several fencing clubs and schools from across the region attended the Lancashire Schools Fencing Competition held at Stonyhurst on 29th April. Stonyhurst was the overall winner of the Stonyhust trophy and the Lancashire Schools Competition, with Simon and Magnus Whittle (P), Anna Schmuecker (P), Filip Wach (P), Fega Okwa (R), Yoann Belon (R) and Ashley Ng (LG) winning a range of medals between them. Several schools and clubs displayed some fantastic performances creating a brilliant atmosphere in the Ambulacrum.

British Youth Championships
Ashley Ng (LG) took on the country’s elite fencers at the British Youth Championships held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on May 5th. Supported by her coach, Simon Whittle (P) she finished in the last 16, winning several poule rounds to head into the elimination rounds with the top-ranked fencers at the event.
