Confirmation
While Peter was still speaking the Holy Spirit came down on all the listeners. (Acts of the Apostles 10:44)

Almost 60 candidates were presented to The Rt Rev Bishop Terence Brain, Bishop of Salford for Confirmation on Sunday 13th May in St Peter’s Church; most were pupils in Grammar (Year 10), who this week are attending day-long retreats at Brettargh Holt in the Lake Distrct.
John Wilson and Hannah Fogden read the lessons and Psalm 97 was beautifully sung by Genevieve Turner (all in Grammar). In his homily, Bishop Brain spoke of God’s love for each one of us, and the sustaining power throughout our lives of the gifts of the spirit. Music included Veni Creator Spiritus, Vaughan Williams’ O Taste and See, Bach’s Jesu joy of man’s desiring and Barber’s Adagio.
