Politics students win a week in Brussels

Kimberly and Jakob Mr Sajjad Karim, MEP
The Stonyhurst College Politics Department has held its first European Politics Essay Competition for Poets (students in Year 12). The prize - a week in Brussels working alongside Conservative Member of the European Parliament for the North West of England, Mr Sajjad Karim – has been awarded to Kimberly Onwu and Jakob Bieda; they will shortly be travelling to Brussels by Eurostar. The essay’s title was ‘Assess the Relative Power of the Main Political Institutions of the European Union,’ and the competition was adjudicated externally by a Professor of Politics. Jakob hopes to read PPE at Oxford and Kimberly is interested in pursuing a career in government. Both will benefit hugely from this exciting opportunity, which will enable them to match their research with experience.
