A Victorian day at Bolton Steam Museum

Bolton Steam Museum

Children in Lower and Upper Prep (years 3 and 4) at Stonyhurst St. Mary's Hall began the autumn term with a trip to the Bolton Steam Museum. The visit greatly enhanced their Victorian history topic, especially as everyone wore Victorian clothes! They were lucky enough to see the steam engines working, which were demonstrated and explained by volunteers at the museum. After watching the engines the children then went to Bolton hospital, which had been a workhouse in Victorian times. The Victorian theme will continue with a ‘Workhouse Week’ later in the term.
