A Victorian Adventure

On Thursday 29th September Lower and Upper Prep (years 3 and 4) went on another amazing trip. The adventure began with a trip through time. Our time machine was a steam train in our own special, reserved carriage. We were met at the station by station master Mr Moore of East Lancashire Railways. He escorted us on to the train and looked after us all the way to our destination – Bury. Once at Bury Mr Moore took us to the Transport Museum where we looked at transport in the Victorian era. We especially enjoyed looking at a horse drawn tram and a traction engine called Doris. After the Transport Museum we hopped over to the Fusiliers Museum to have our lunch. Here we were met by Mr Jessop, Mrs Elliot (otherwise known as Versa Tility) and Colonel Smythe. We separated into Lower and Upper Prep groups and went off to look around the museum. We all had a chance at writing a newspaper article about the Crimean War. Many children wore a genuine Victorian drummer boy’s uniform complete with sealskin hat. All children were able to handle a variety of decommissioned Victorian weapons.
We travelled back to the present day with a return trip on the steam train. A fantastic time was had by all.
