STONYHURST ST MARY’S HALL NEWSLETTER

THURSDAY 28th April 2011

ISSUE NO. 85

Mass on Sunday in the College Chapel at 10:30 am

All Welcome

From the Headmaster

Happy Easter! I do hope you have enjoyed the spring weather and break.

After school Activities

The children have made their selections and these will start on Monday.

May Vigil & Procession: parents please!?

The May Vigil – a period of quiet prayer in the SMH Chapel – starts at 7.30am and finishes at 4pm. A condition of a vigil is that there is always somebody there – keeping watch. Children will be visiting in groups throughout the day but there are 2 slots for PARENTS only which I am timing with arrival and departure times. Please could you let me know – smh-headmaster@stonyhurst.ac.uk – if you would be prepared to be there for 10 minutes. The times to select are:

7.50.am, 8.00.am, 8.10.am and 8.20.am in the morning and 2.30pm, 2.40pm, 2.50pm and 3.00pm before Mass.

The reason for these times is also to invite you to the May Procession which, weather permitting, will precede Mass. The children will walk with flowers to the grotto and then go to the Chapel for Mass. The Vigil will end with the Mass at 4pm.

Please do consider coming to these and let me know if you are available at the named times.

Friends of Children for Chernobyl

Thank you to those who have already responded so generously with clothes for the children of Chernobyl. Just to remind you, this is a charity that hosts a holiday for second generation children from the Chernobyl disaster. They often come with few clothes and we are looking to donate good quality second hand clothes. They can be left in Reception.

Sport

Do come and support the sport this term. Whilst the weather is fine there a few nicer ways to pass the time watching your child, meeting a few people and enjoying the company of others with a cup of tea!
