Millie Arnold has been selected for Northern Thunder, which is a Superleague team. (There are only 10 Superleague teams in the whole country, so this is the equivalent of playing in the football premiership!) The purpose of the academy is to develop young athletes who are showing the potential to progress eventually to the Development Squad and then onto the NTL Squad. (Millie is pictured above and is the third player from the left.)
Stonyhurst Invitation Netball Tournament
In the U14 age group there were 7 teams: the Stonyhurst A’s and B’s, Kings Macclesfield, St Bedes Manchester, Giggleswick, Sedbergh and Mount St Mary’s. In the U15 category the Stonyhurst A’s and B’s competed with Mount St Mary’s, Sedbergh and Kings Macclesfield.
The U15 girls won the tournament (pictured above) having won all of their matches convincingly and the U14's were runners up having only lost to St Bede's Manchester by one goal in their first game.
We were privileged to have Emily Whiteside, who plays in the England U17 team, and Amy Stevens, the England U17 captain, as our guest presenters. Emily once played at the Stonyhurst tournament and both girls are now European Champions, having represented England in the previous week in Dublin at The European Championships.
