Weld House - 2010
A new sixth-form boarding house which is named after Thomas Weld, who gave Stonyhurst to the Jesuits in 1794. His heir, Henry Weld Stewart (OS62) and Father Michael Holman SJ, Provincial of the Jesuits in the British Province attended the official opening by His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester. This project was partly funded by the kind generosity of over 150 OS, parents and former parents.
Headmaster, Andrew Johnson, said:
'We are delighted to be opening Weld House, which is needed to accommodate an increasing number of boarders. It has been carefully designed to harmonise with Stonyhurst's historic buildings. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported this appeal'.

Weld House, the new Higher Line building is the first large building project at the College for 50 years. The building contains 40 en suite bedrooms, kitchens and a lounge area and accommodation for resident staff. The development overseen by English Heritage and the local building control and planning departments, is of the highest standard; the stone and timber work has been completed by Stonyhurst's own stonemasons and joiners. The building cost for this project was approximately £5 million.

More Library - 2004
The More Library was officially re-opened on 10th September 2004 after nearly a year of restoration and refurbishment. The library occupies a splendid position on the first floor of the Victorian South Front in the ideal location to fulfil the role of a Learning and Resource Centre, within easy reach of the teaching areas of the College.
The library gives pupils knowledge at their fingertips, with ease of access to a wealth of information in a wide range of media: on CD-ROM, from workstations featuring fast Broadband Internet access or through the computerised Library Management System. Electronic cataloguing will make information easily accessible in the newly replenished stock of over 15000 books.
'This new place is a magnificent affair, the best school library I have ever seen, with all the latest equipment but also light and airy, comfortable, spacious and delectably quiet'.
