Scholarships

Stonyhurst Scholarships & Awards are won on the basis of merit and can be worth from 10% to 50% of the fees (boarding or day). In case of need the Bursary Committee will consider applications to supplement the award with a bursary (for more information on bursaries click on the link on the left hand side of the page).

The number and size of scholarships is at the discretion of the Headmaster. The bestowal of any scholarships or exhibition carries with it privilege and responsibility. Every scholarship holder is expected to set an example for the other pupils in their conduct and approach to academic study and to participate in the fuller life of the school, through its programme of extra-curricular activities. The tenure of a scholarship is intended to be for the duration of the holder's education at Stonyhurst, provided the holder's academic progress and general conduct remain satisfactory and provided that the holder continues enthusiastically to fulfil the obligations associated with the scholarship. Scholarships are reviewed annually.

Academic & Music scholarships are awarded at 11+, 13+ and 16+.

Art and all-rounder scholarships are awarded at 13+ & 16+.
