Chaplaincy

All children of all denominations take part in our liturgies.

The Chaplaincy Team, comprising the Chaplain, Fr Peter Willcocks, SJ, and members of the teaching staff, isresponsible for the development of the spiritual life of the pupils. The Chaplaincy Team aims to meet the needs of the pupils in understanding and practising their faith more fully by means of liturgies, prayer groups, retreats and discussions. The Chaplaincy Team helps to develop ways to enhance the spiritual life of all at Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall.

Liturgies are child friendly and aim to give children the experience of the whole Liturgical Calendar, celebrating the main seasons and feast days. In particular, children are prepared for First Holy Communion in year 3, we celebrate the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter and we pay special tribute to our Jesuit tradition and the men and women who brought that about and of course to Mary, our Patron.

In addition to Mass there is a wide variety of services and prayers throughout the year.

As children move up to the College they are able to participate in more of the whole campus events such as the Easter Retreat, the Lourdes Pilgrimage, the Stonyhurst Children’s Holiday Trust and other charities.

We believe in Faith in Action and SMH has its very own charity, Children for Children, which raises funds in particular for our sister school in Zimbabwe, St Paul’s Musami.
