Our co-curricular drama activities complement each other and combine to allow our students to celebrate their talents in our school productions and musicals.
Our performances always draw in a ‘full-house’ and have previously included ‘Fame’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Sweeney Todd’ and ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Standards are very high and Stonyhurst students often win places in the prestigious National Youth Theatre.
We offer a large-scale College production in the Christmas term, which is open to all. This involves an intensive rehearsal schedule. During the Easter term we offer Drama Workshop, an informal acting society that works towards a collaborative production at Great Academies in May.
Stage Management & Set Design
Stage management and set design require methodical thinking and organisational skills. This society is popular with students interested in the production aspect of the performing arts. It is open to all college students.
The costume department is organised and run by a group of volunteer parents and staff from the school, providing opportunities for students with an interest in fashion, textiles or production to source, make and organise costumes ready for performance.
This society is led by Mr Thomas, who guides students whilst they learn about health and safety, and get hands-on experience in rigging, de-rigging and programming lights and sound. During productions the technical theatre students operate the lighting and sound desks themselves.
