'Netting Fishes' by Fr John Twist, SJ

This selection of homilies by Fr John Twist, SJ, Chaplain of Stonyhurst

College, is drawn from a range of Sunday Masses plus a number of other feasts. Each homily is a bite-sized piece of wisdom, relating a biblical passage to everyday life, current affairs and the author’s own experience and imagination. Each would be quick enough to read on the train or bus, or before bedtime.

These ‘thoughts for the day’ provide much to ponder on as well as humour, such as the claim that the world was actually created at 10am in the morning, due to a late start; that the Loch Ness Monster not only exists, but snores as well;  that people who look in a mirror get an awful shock; that wealthy people imprison themselves; that vehicles on motorways are not actually going anywhere; only children see truth; Saints Peter and Paul resemble Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson; the highland grouse has the unique ability to eliminate the British Aristocracy.
