Stonyhurst Association Annual Dinner 2016

This year’s annual Stonyhurst Association Dinner was held on Saturday 29th October where we welcomed 154 guests to enjoy an evening of good food, wine and company with stories of laughter and cheer as guests reminisced at their time spent here at the College.  This year’s Association President, Fr Nick King SJ OS 1966, welcomed his guests before going on to speak about his time at Stonyhurst and how it has left a lasting impression, providing him with a moral and spiritual compass for life.  Fr Nick’s speech was followed by an address from the Guest of Honour, Sister Jane Livesey C.J., whose own brothers attended Stonyhurst.  She spoke about how much Stonyhurst becomes a part of your life which was certainly evident at the dinner with the reciting of so many fond memories amongst lifelong friends.  The Headmaster, Mr John Browne, shared his vision for the College, expressing his wish to incorporate Stonyhurst’s rich history and the best of the past to ensure the most promising future.  Finally, the Head of Higher Line, Madeleine Coulston, who had the audience giggling, shared stories of the competitive spirit and comradery still prominent at the Interline events today.

The Association were invited the following morning to attend Sunday Mass at St Peter’s Church where they had the pleasure of listening to the Headmaster stand in for the school’s organist before his departure to Mexico.

The weekend was a huge success, and we thank all of those families who travelled long distances to attend the event.  It was hugely appreciated.
