Stonyhurst College is a home-from-home for our boarding pupils, one in which our day pupils are fully involved and integrated. We offer an extensive range of activities and events throughout the week, and just like at home, our boarders enjoy weekend trips and excursions including to the cinema, concerts, ice-skating rinks and sports matches.
The Catholic life of the school continues throughout the weekend with events such as Benediction on selected Saturday evenings and Mass in St Peter’s Church every Sunday morning, attended by the boarding community, as well as many day pupils, their parents and families.
Current and former students tell us that what they cherish most from their time at Stonyhurst College are the lifelong friendships they forge here, founded in our Playroom system.
Equipped with lockers, comfortable seating and games including table tennis, year-group Playrooms provide a social and recreational base for day and boarding pupils to congregate before, after and between their lessons and our rich programme of sporting, cultural and spiritual activities.
In addition, Lower Line study centres, supervised by Playroom staff, provide a place to store books and materials and study throughout the day. Higher Line boarders have study bedrooms while day pupils have their own personal study spaces.
Higher Line pupils play an important leadership role within the College and every Higher Line pupil is given distinct responsibilities and encouraged to be a role model for our younger pupils.
