The power of Poetry

This year’s Poetry Banquet was as successful as ever, and raised over £15,000 for the Stonyhurst Children’s Holiday Week Trust. The trust provides a summer holiday at Stonyhurst for children from local special schools, when each child is cared for individually by volunteers from Higher Line.

As ever, the entire playroom was involved in planning and hosting a fabulous evening, which was enjoyed by over 250 guests. This year, the theme for the banquet was the 1920s. The Ambulacrum looked wonderful, and everyone contributed in different ways; waiting at tables, providing entertainment, making the opening speech, running the auction and raffle, and clearing up afterwards!

The Headmaster, Mr Andrew Johnson, said: “I’m always very proud of our pupils on these occasions. Every Poet contributes in some way to the Banquet and there is a huge team-effort to ensure that this very special Stonyhurst event is a success each year.”
