The Stonyhurst Politics Society

On Thursday 21st April, Dr. Mike Simpson of Bradford University once again visited the College to give a talk on the impact of pressure groups on British politics. In a wide-ranging and highly engaging lecture, Dr. Simpson covered several interesting examples of pressure group activities. The talk featured a number of issues such as environmentalism, protest marches and access to government. This was followed by a question-and-answer session that continued on the theme of pressure groups but also touched on matters such as the upcoming EU referendum and the US presidential elections. All of those who attended really enjoyed the talk and benefited from the expertise that Dr. Simpson brought as an experienced A-level examiner.
