Watching Prime Ministers with Lord Hennessy

Politics students were fortunate to attend a lecture given by Professor the Lord Peter Hennessy, former Whitehall correspondent, author and historian. The lecture was part of the Roscoe Series, given at Liverpool John Moores University.

Politics student Giles Gabbutt said: “It was a profoundly interesting and informative talk, which focused on the British constitution, the role of the PM and cabinet in Britain. Lord Hennessy was an incredibly witty speaker with a great talent for impersonation!”

Lord Hennessy drew on his extensive knowledge of past residents of 10 Downing Street and began by describing the job of a PM as a ‘wonderful, terrible thing’.
