What is the role of the U.S Constitution?

On the evening of the 8th of September the Stonyhurst Politics Society were treated to their very first lecture of the academic year. The lecture titled ‘The U.S Constitution’ was presented by a senior lecturer at Liverpool Hope University and long-standing friend of the College, Dr. Rob Busby

Dr. Busby’s enlightening speech thoroughly described the role of the U.S constitution which is normally otherwise less accessible, highlighting its contrast with the British constitution too. The lecture was accompanied by a very comprehensive presentation which was very engaging for the AS/A-level Politics students in attendance, illustrating the issues in modern America, including the constitutional effects on the upcoming election. The audience were then allowed a more casual conversation with Dr Busby, drawing on more general topics of debate within American politics, which was very well received by all those in present.

On behalf of the Stonyhurst Politics Society, Georgina Morgan and Luke Stagnetto (2016-17 Presidents) would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Busby.
