Saturday 17th November was the Stonyhurst annual inter school trail race, the route takes in two laps of the some of the best terrain around the college, offering a mix of technical underfoot sections, mud, and fast running. The course is measured at 6.7km and is a relevantly new course, having only been used two times prior for the inter schools fixture. The day presented perfect conditions for running, clear skies and not a breath of wind, conditions were firm to soft in places and nowhere near as boggy as previous years! Unfortunately, a number of other schools dropped out last minute and in the end the fixture was against Stonyhurst and Ampleforth only.

Both Ampleforth and Stonyhurst fielded two mixed teams, made up with pupils from years 8 through to 13. 1st overall went to Will Hall (Rudiments) of Stonyhurst, coming home in a mightily impressive time of 28.53! The overall team event was again won by Stonyhurst, beating Ampleforth 16 points to 24.

We look forward to the return fixture at Ampleforth on the 30th March, and hopefully another Stonyhurst victory! Many thanks to Ampleforth for making the long trip over the Pennines, and for an afternoon of good competition.
