On Monday 6th February, Stonyhurst welcomed its second “Celebration of Singing Day” for Primary School Children.

The children started the day rehearsing a selection of songs for the concert later under the guidance of Mr Marshall (Director of Music) and Dr Kevin Morgan (College Organist).  All the children were also introduced to the Stonyhurst Collection and were given tours of the College before heading over to St Mary’s Hall for lunch in the Refectory.

The highlight of the day was the short concert for pupils, staff, parents and families where the children were competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize.   Some of the winning songs included ‘Any Dream Will Do’ from Joseph’s Technicolour Dream Coat, ‘When I Grow Up’ from Matilda, and ‘Do-Re-Mi’ from the Sound of Music.

Congratulations to the winning schools:

1st place – St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School

2nd place – St Bernard’s Catholic Primary School

3rd place – St Michael’s & St John’s Primary School
