Stonyhurst College Celebrates A Level Success as Pupils Embark on Exciting Futures

Stonyhurst College is celebrating an outstanding year of A level results, with pupils securing places at world-leading universities and conservatoires. 80% of all A level grades were A*–B, with over half at A*/A. Nearly one in five grades were awarded at A*, more than double the national average. These results  reflect the true academic strength and dedication of the 2025 cohort.

In addition to A levels, Stonyhurst has continued to outperform the global average of 30 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma , with an average point score of 33. For CTECH, 90% of pupils achieved the top grade of D*D* (Distinction) across both subjects, compared to the national average of 11%. These outstanding outcomes across both academic and vocational pathways place Stonyhurst pupils among the highest performing nationally.

This year’s leavers are progressing to leading universities in the UK and across the globe. 91% secured their firm or insurance university choice, with 68% progressing to Russell Group universities. Supported by Stonyhurst’s award-winning Careers Department, pupils leave with the guidance and confidence to pursue diverse pathways, including overseas study. Stonyhurst continues to prepare young people for a global future, reflecting its mission to nurture confident, compassionate leaders who can thrive anywhere in the world.

A Foundation for Life

These stories highlight the transformative impact of a Stonyhurst education – combining academic challenge with rich opportunities in music, sport, drama, service, and leadership. Guided by the school motto, Quant je puis – “as much as I can” – pupils leave Stonyhurst not only with excellent results but also with the confidence, friendships, and values to thrive as men and women for others.

John Browne, Headmaster of Stonyhurst, said:

“These outstanding results are a remarkable tribute to the determination and dedication of our young people, supported by their families and our extraordinary staff. Most of all, we are proud of these young people who are now ready to go out into the world as ‘men and women for others’.”

We wish our 2025 leavers every success as they take their next steps, carrying with them the faith, friendships, and foundations of their time at Stonyhurst.
