We are delighted to have been awarded the highest possible rating of Excellent in all areas following an inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), reinforcing our global reputation for outstanding teaching and care in the competitive independent school sector.
As an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 3-18, we are inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). Each of our latest reports are available to download from this page, allowing a thorough insight into exactly what makes Stonyhurst an excellent place to study and develop, from Pre-Prep right through to Sixth Form.
Pupils' academic and other achievements are wide and varied, and highly accomplished. They have a highly developed sense of social awareness; are passionate about making a difference. Pupils have a deep appreciation of the world around them and see the exquisiteness in ordinary things.

Independent Schools Inspectorate
The ISI states:
"Educational quality inspection reports offer detailed assessments of a school. The report includes an introductory section on the characteristics of the school, such as its aims and ethos.
Reports focus on the two main outcomes for pupils: achievement and personal development. Reports include factors which contribute to these outcomes such as the curriculum, teaching, pastoral care, and governance, leadership and management.
Inspection reports give a frank and objective overall account of a school’s provision and outcomes for pupils. They should indicate how well the education caters for pupils of different needs and abilities, how broad the education is, what the atmosphere of the school is like – in terms of the ethos, behaviour of pupils and relationships – and how well pupils are cared for."
