Grammar and Syntax
AQA GCSE Drama is an exciting and creative course, which is both challenging and rewarding.
Studying GCSE Drama helps students develop a range of creative and performance skills and during the two year course students usually focus on two areas of Drama; Acting, and Devised performance. Their study involves exploring a variety of set texts and also trips to see live theatre productions.
Unit 1 is assessed by a 90 minute written paper (40%) comprising of the following three sections, of which the students answer two;
A – Practical work completed during the course
B – Study and performance of a scripted play
C – Study of a live theatre production
Unit 2 is assessed by practical work (60%). Candidates present work in the form of a scripted piece and a devised piece (30% each).
Recent practical work produced by GCSE students includes ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘Shakers’, ‘Bouncers’ and the Tottenham Riots.
