Stonyhurst offers an inclusive, caring, international environment with a long Jesuit history of supporting pupils from around the world.
We can accept and quickly integrate pupils who have no English at all up to the age of twelve. The professional and enthusiastic staff of the EAL department strive to create an environment which
- encourages integration, inclusion and respect for pupils from other cultures and faiths
- provides pupils with the necessary language skills to access the wider curriculum
- prepares pupils for a wide range of ESOL examinations
- help pupils to feel at home within the school community
Pupils who are older than thirteen when they join Stonyhurst will need a reasonable level of conversational English, but will be supported as they engage in their journey to complete fluency.
International parents can be confident that we will tailor our comprehensive curriculum to support their child’s individual academic and pastoral needs, whenever they join us at Stonyhurst.
