Physics is the most fundamental of all the sciences, and is concerned with understanding the everyday processes that go on around us. Physics teaches useful analytical and problem solving skills that are considered to be extremely beneficial in a wide variety of careers, such as Management, Finance and Law.
Studying Physics is about attempting to explain the Universe in terms of simple models. We aim to teach our students a great deal about the Universe and the amazing range of different ways that Nature’s building blocks can be put together and interact with each other. We also teach students to look critically at the world and how our ideas about it have developed through the ages.
The department consists of four main teaching laboratories, project and prep rooms and the shared Matteo Ricci Suite consisting of 24 networked student PCs and a teaching PC with interactive whiteboard.
