One of the strengths of the IBCP is that it allows for a variety of assessment and is particularly suited to those students for whom linear written exams provide a significant barrier to achievement.
Students are awarded the IBCP certificate if they have:
- Completed the Careers related study, and been awarded a grade in this by OCR. Because OCR Cambridge Technical Level 3 Diploma is a two A Level equivalent programme, grades vary from “Pass Pass” to “Distinction* Distinction*” A pupil achieving D*D* has gained the equivalent of 2 A*s at A Level, according to UCAS tariff points.
- Completed two Diploma Programme courses at either SL or HL, and been awarded at least a Grade 3 in each.
For Diploma courses, students take written examinations at the end of their courses, which are marked by external IB examiners. The marks awarded for each course range from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest).
- Completed the IBCP Core, and been awarded at least a D grade in their Reflective Project.
Service learning, Personal and Professional Skills and Language Development are all completed via a portfolio which is moderated by Stonyhurst College. The Reflective Project is marked by Stonyhurst College staff and is then subject to moderation by the IBO.
