Alison OS 12

About Alison

I was at Stonyhurst from 2005, when I started at St Mary's Hall, to 2012. At the end of Rhetoric in 2012, I went to study English and Scottish Literature at the University of Edinburgh, where I graduated in 2016 with First Class Hons. I was fortunate to have been taught by incredible English teachers throughout my time at Stonyhurst who all encouraged my love of reading, so it’s probably no surprise to them that I carried my love of literature into my career. I now work in London as an Assistant Editor at Quercus, a small publishing house within a larger publishing group called Hachette.

It’s a bit strange to think that I have now been away from Stonyhurst for the same length of time I was a student there (seven years), a particularly because it never feels too far away. It’s a sense of place, history and community that never really leaves you, and I am incredibly grateful that Stonyhurt turning co-ed 20 years ago made it possible for me to experience such a one-off place as the College.
