Back with a Bang

SMH pupils returned to school on Wednesday 2nd November with a busy yet exciting week ahead.  As the school term began, the cold weather set in, which coincided nicely with bonfire night. All the boarders were able to experience a thrilling fireworks display and also took in other firework displays across the Ribble Valley later in the evening from their rooms. For many pupils, this was their first time experiencing bonfire night in the UK so this was a treat for them as the working week came to a close.

Saturday afternoon saw Rugby matches  for all the boys in SMH take place against Aysgarth. Despite some intensely fought matches, the boys narrowly missed out on the spoils this time round. Meanwhile, the girls also trained as usual despite the cold weather doing its best to prevent a ball being played. The girls weren’t about to be stopped by a little frost though!

Saturday evening gave the pupils chance to recharge their batteries and chill out at school with movies and cookies provided specially by Mr Stokes.  On Sunday morning, the pupils and staff headed over to the College for Mass which was closely followed by a lovely roast dinner in the ref.

On Sunday evening, the boarders were given a brilliant opportunity to go and see the illuminations over on the coast in Blackpool. Again, being such a unique experience, this was fascinating for many of the new pupils and those who hadn’t been before. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all as they took a stroll down England’s most famous promenade and took in all the different attractions which lit up the town and the faces of those who made the trip to the coast. This finished off the weekend very nicely.
