We were delighted to welcome back Dr Guy Sutton to Stonyhurst College for our annual ‘Brain Day’ event.  Dr Sutton provided a series of inspiring and informative neuroscience lectures throughout the day for Poets studying biology and psychology.

In the morning we were joined by our visitors from Colegio Seminario in Uruguay for a lecture about the influence of our nerves on our brains and therefore on our behaviour.  In later lectures, Dr Sutton discussed the working brain including the latest research and ideas using brain imaging technology and the influence of our genes on our development.

Students were also offered the opportunity to observe a brain dissection, which generated a lot of questions and interest.

The biologists and psychologists certainly found it an engaging and thought-provoking experience, and our sincere thanks go to Dr Sutton, who is also an honorary assistant professor at the University of Nottingham School of Medicine
